Winter in Western Montana- The Dangers

In Montana, residents love to appreciate the outdoors. This is one of the things that makes our beautiful state so easy to live in; its great outdoors. In the winter season, there are dangers posed to outdoor recreators. More recently, the West Central Montana Avalanche Center declared dangerous rating for lands around Western Montana. Avalanche danger is high in wind-loaded terrains and considerable everywhere else throughout the state.
This information is critical for skiers, snowboarders, hunters, hikers, snowmobilers, and really anyone else who will be enjoying our mountainous region this winter. If you suspect you will be enjoying the backcountry this winter, it is highly recommended that you check MissoulaAvalanche.org for updated avalanche and weather conditions.

Remember, all mountainous areas require caution in the winter months. Last year alone, there were four avalanche deaths in the state of Montana; out of 25 in the country.

Be careful out there, and enjoy the winter!!
